Aaron Schaap


Aaron is the Founder/CEO of Elevator Up – a company that digital products that delight users. He’s also founded various other ventures like, the Factory and coLearning, along with helping create and foster many events and groups in West Michigan. Aaron brings a strong passion for community and wants people to focus less on the West Michigan bullshit around being an entrepreneur and spend their time “Strategically Doing” instead of “Strategic Planning”.

Amanda is the Program Director for Momentum where she is responsible for marketing, recruitment, event planning, program development and execution. Prior to working with Momentum she was the Director of Entrepreneurial Development at Lakeshore Advantage where she managed their technology business incubator, The Lakeshore Business Garden. Amanda has over 15 years of entrepreneurial, business management and event planning experience. She is a certified small business counselor and has played a key role in business incubation in the West Michigan region.

Carl Erickson

Carl Erickson is the co-founder and president of Atomic Object, a 30 person software design and development consultancy founded in 2001. Atomic builds web, mobile and embedded software products for clients ranging from huge multinationals to startups, in diverse markets spanning automotive, healthcare, financial services, education, distribution and entertainment.

Before creating Atomic out of the ashes of a failed dot-com startup, Carl was a professor of computer science at Grand Valley State University. A major figure in the West Michigan technology community, he also founded SoftwareGR, a non-profit trade association dedicated to software development excellence.

Casey has generously participated in the local tech community as an organizer for the Grand Rapids Linux Users Group, Startup Weekend, board member of Software GR, GiveCamp, GRR Con, BarcampGR, GR Dev Day, and the Great Lakes Software Excellence Conference.

Dan Morrison


Among colleagues, Daniel is known for rambling about algorithm design or obscure academic terms, which he blames on his classical training in Computer Science. Among clients, Daniel is known for being honest and direct when trying to get clients to focus on value and efficiency, which he blames on his unwavering quest for…value and efficiency. Daniel founded Collective Idea in 2005 to put a name to his growing and already full-time freelance work. He works hard writing code, teaching, mentoring and speaking about the company’s processes and tools.

Dave Brondsema


Dave currently works for Sourceforge and during his free time, he puts on and helps manages and GR WebDev.

Shawn Crowley


Shawn is the Vice President of Atomic Object. He enjoys helping people understand and benefit from agile software product development. Shawn’s passionate about improving the process and coordination of skills involved to successfully build and bring software products to market. Shawn enjoys his involvement in the Momentum program as a technology mentor and is excited to help the region grow and retain software companies.
